Eduardo Aire Torres

Design Engineer · Product Engineer

Six years building web applications end to end, on over ten years of design and typography.

About

I'm a design engineer. I started in graphic design and typography, and the repetitive parts of that work got me writing Python and JavaScript to automate them. That led me to web apps, first the front end and later everything from the database to the deploy. Through all of it, I've kept caring about how a product looks and how it works, and I want it to work for everyone. That's where I help most: I turn design ideas into code without losing the details, and I make product choices with people in mind. On the side, I keep learning new tools and ways of building. Away from the screen, I do calligraphy as an art, and I cook: grilling, smoking and roasting, but also pasta, stews, baking and desserts.

Experience

  • Jan 2026 – Present

    Software Engineer

BevNET.com, Inc. (opens in a new tab) · Contract · Remote

BevNET's brands now sit together under CPG Media, and I work across all of them, from the database to the screen. I built the shared CPG Media header and one search for every site, built Taste Radio's new site on Next.js, and moved older Blazor pages to Next.js and our Lambdas to .NET 10. I also set up Sentry across the stack and removed the systems the business had retired, so the codebase keeps getting smaller and easier to change.

    Frontend Developer

BevNET.com, Inc. (opens in a new tab) · Contract · Remote

I started on the front ends of BevNET, NOSH and Brewbound, turning designs into production UI. Then the work grew: I owned most of the press release platform, built Nombase's pages from search to its courses, and redesigned the paywall and the subscription pages. Along the way I moved from the front end into APIs, databases and migrations, which led to my promotion to Software Engineer.

    Font Engineer and Type Designer

And Repeat, Inc. (opens in a new tab) · Contract · Remote

I designed type and built the production tooling behind the typefaces, with Python scripts and Glyphs plugins. I also led the Branding System Generator, which I wrote with @miglconts (opens in a new tab), and presented it at Typographics TypeLab 2022.

    Frontend Developer & Creative Coder

Abismo⁰ (opens in a new tab) · Freelance · Hybrid

This is where art, design, and code came together for me. I built interactive front ends with generative art and animation, and automated editorial design by connecting Python and Pandas to InDesign.

    Senior Graphic Designer

Universidad Anáhuac México (opens in a new tab) · On-site

I refreshed the visual language of the department's communications and built event branding systems, from merchandise and motion to editorial, type, web, and signage. Repetitive work like diplomas and animated invitations is what got me writing Python and JavaScript, and into software.

    B.A. Graphic Design

Universidad Anáhuac México Norte (opens in a new tab)

Where it all started. Along the way I taught myself type design and calligraphy, and I graduated with honors. My graduation project, MUSANS DECO, a book and a typeface, was shown at the Bella Época Cultural Center, and I was a finalist in the university's 50th-anniversary logo contest.

    Blockchain Diploma

Universidad Anáhuac Online (opens in a new tab)

An online diploma on how blockchains work and where they fit. I took it in 2022, the same year I joined ETHMéxico and ETHOnline.

    Type@Cooper Condensed Program

The Cooper Union (opens in a new tab)

An intensive summer program at The Cooper Union. I studied type design, calligraphy, history and theory with Hannes Famira, Just van Rossum, Ewan Clayton and Alexander Tochilovsky, with Matthew Carter as a guest critic. My final project was Patón, a slab-serif text typeface.
