Font Proofer

Proofing a font usually means scripts, Python and a lot of setup. I wanted type designers to skip all of that.

You drop your fonts in a folder and talk to Claude in plain words. It reads the fonts, asks what you need and builds the proofs inside a container you never have to open. I presented it at TypeLab 2026.

What I did

  • Three specialists split the work: a typographer, a font engineer and a web engineer.
  • /init-font reads metrics, character coverage, languages, OpenType features and variable axes.
  • Vector PDF proofs with waterfalls, kerning tests and language specimens.
  • Fonts stay on your machine. They are never committed or uploaded.
